The Pink Cockatoo or Leadbeater's Cockatoo is found in much of inland Australia. There are two sub-species - C. leadbeateri leadbeateri and C. leadbeateri mollis. They were first discovered in Australia by explorer Sir Thomas Mitchell in 1830. In 1834, an English naturalist named Leadbeater brought them to the London Zoo for the first time. Hence the names Major Mitchell and Leadbeater.
